My Balancing Act

what goes up must come down. it's also nice when stuff that goes down goes back up again. like ... money, for example :) especially when you have a monstrously expensive habit to support . anyway, balancing my bankbooks just became easier, because i have a job :D for the next 6 - 7 weeks i am working in the training department of a hospital (the admin side of training, not the actual training side). my first day was really good fun, the people are laid back and the job itself is not too hard, though it is difficult getting to know everything, and there is a lot of stuff to take in (names, roles, depts, etc) ... im fairly sure i will find it a bit tedious after just a couple of weeks, but the staff there are lovely and that's gotta make up for any lack of fun (it's a job after all, im not supposed to be having fun ).

point is, im happy, and i might even be able to afford my little skybinge before i go to china, if the weather holds, fuel prices don't get crazier than they are already, and i have the inclination to do a bucket load of jumps over not-so-many days :)

haha not the blood place (im in newcastle for the summer remember?) and not even similar. at the blood place all i did was take racks of blood in test tubes and enter data on a computer, then check it before sending it to the other end of the lab for the actual testing (which i had no part of). here, i work in the Training and Development section of a hospital, which offers all sorts of courses (from basic mandatory stuff like how to lift a person, to advanced life support skills for docs / nurses / etc), most of whom have something to do with mental health (that being the hospital's specialty) though the trust covers a huge section of the country. anyway, as of monday when i will have full access to the bookings system, my job will basically be to take / amend bookings on these courses, answer reception (yup, im the temp bitch on reception), photocopy small forests of paper to compile management training manuals (already done about 50 this week, i estimate ive made over 3000 photocopies in the last three days), take my turn with teas and coffees, etc etc etc, it's basic office work really :) anyway, is a bit dull sometimes, but v relaxed and everyone is super friendly, yay.
do you get a paper shredder? i've always wanted to have a job where i could shred paper!
